Boing! space is no longer empty!

We usually think of space as being empty.

Filled only by asteroids, 2D spaceships & laser fire.

Until now, that was true.

Now, there are walls in space. Grab the gamepads. It is time to fight across over 40 hand-made maps.

Only in Master Blaster mode.

Each map is designed for optimum. Some maps are bad. A few maps have special elements.

Some maps are open areas, some are claustrophobic caves or space stations. All based on real existing locations in space. Sometimes there are free floating elements, it is all symulated.

Do you suck at flying spaceships?

Many playtesters had problems because there are no brakes in space.

Now there is the option for each player to enable automatic braking. If enabled, automatic reverse thrusters will slowly slow down your ship when you stop pressing the forward button. Advanced pilots leave the option disabled for more freedom to perform complex 2D flying tricks.

New helpful effects enhance the experience. The new warp-in effect makes sure you almost never get lost after respawning.

Tweaks & stuff

In Master Blaster mode, a round can be won by being the first player with 1000 points.

New: After 6 minutes the round also ends. This allows you to play with "unwinnable" options (lots of asteroids, difficult map etc) and still eventually end the round with a winner.

Map editor

Okay, the mapeditor is very crude. If you still want to try it, here are some instructions if the ingame help is not enough. The mapeditor is just a tool made for myself, it is NOT userfriendly and it has some quirks.

Make a testmap before wasting any amount of time on a real design.

1) Start a game.

Select map *none* to start on a blank map.

(Note: The game will continue to play while editing, so best to use Master Blaster mode. Otherwise the game & editor might close when you lost all lives.)

2) Press F5 to bring up the editor.

Gametimer will be set to 1 hour so that the round does not end too soon.

3.1) Maps consist of polygons with maximum of 8 corners.
3.2 The area of the  polygon must not be zero.

3.3) The polygon must be convex.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convex_polygon

Not all errors are checked.  For example

placing 3 polygons in one line will create an illegal polygon with area of 0 and crash the game.

4) Use left mousebutton to build the polygon. Use right button to close

the polygon. The crosshair style lines and coordinates at top are super helpful to line the construction.

5) Press c to change color.

6) Press R to place respawn points for the players.

7) Use middle mouse click to delete walls & respawn points

8) Press S to move the floating wall that displays points & timer.

In editor it is just a graphic and previously loaded wall might still

float around. It will be correct when playing.

9) After editing is finished, press M for menu.

10) Enter the map details: author, filename, mapname, description text.

Best to use a filename that matches the mapname or can be traced to it.

11) Save the map.

12) return to main menu.

The map should be selectable. When toggling through the maplist, there

will be new usermaps\ category at end of the list.

(Use rightclick to toggle backwards and get to it faster)

If you made a map you can send it to me and I will add it.
